Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT)
Build mindfulness skills to help prevent depression relapse and respond more skillfully to anxiety, depression and life stress.
Who may benefit
MBCT was designed for people who have experienced depression and want to stay well. It can also be useful for people with current symptoms of anxiety or depression, difficulties related to life stress, insomnia or chronic pain.
How the program works
Mindfulness means paying attention to what is present in a non-judgmental way. These skills can help people avoid getting caught in the automatic downward spiral that may lead to depression or excessive anxiety.
Meditation is the primary formal mindfulness practice in the program. Participants should expect about 45 minutes of homework each day.
Workbook
Participants are required to obtain The Mindful Way Workbook by Teasdale and colleagues before the group and bring it to every session.
